Our North Island plan included proceeding from Wellington to Napier and Hawkes Bay and spending two days between this famous art deco city and it surrounding wineries. Cyclone Gabrielle closed the whole of the Hawkes Bay area to visitors for the duration of our time in NZ.

Our revised plan took us from Wellington to Lake Taupo and beyond.
