Our stay at the Top 10 Wellington actually placed us in the community of Lower Hutt, a half hour’s drive north of Wellington. Arriving long after dark, we awoke to find ourselves camping amongst members of a club of Model A Ford owners.

Our plans were to visit the Museum of New Zealand and Zealandia Ecosanctuary. However, vehicle troubles kept us at the campground for most of our two day visit.

We enjoyed the company of our New Zealand car-collecting new friends, and appreciated their focus on maintaining these 90+ year old beauties.

They were on their way to the South Island where they were to attend the annual meeting of their car club.

Over 135 Model A’s were expected, all of which were to arrive under their own power.

These were very particular car collectors.
Their vehicles were in near showroom condition.

With our car troubles behind us, we treated ourselves to a very fine Greek meal at Oikos Hellenic Cuisine in Wellington.
With full bellies, we returned to the campsite and prepared to head north to Lake Taupo in the morning.
