In preparation for our Twilight Forest Walk we had assembled for pickup by our tour guide at the Hopianga Heads Hotel in Omapere, about 15 minutes from the forest walk sites. As we came over the hill towards Omapere, this view of sand dunes at Hopianga Head and the Tasman Sea was our introduction.
The Hopianga Heads Hotel was our one planned luxury during our camping trip. Originally built in 1903, it had a very classic look.
It felt like Bogey and Bacall might just walk in!
The dining room captures a beautiful view of the sand dunes at Hopianga Head.
Even the art work reflected the mystical Maori cultural experience.

With a good night’s sleep, we were off to the Waitangi Treaty grounds in the morning.
